For me, art is integrative and narrative. I tell my story by printmaking. When I create images, I am embarking on a personal exploration through which an audience can also participate in what I have experienced visually. My work is the expression and extension of myself, and at the same time, it is a way to preserve a record of my history and the contexts that have given my identity meaning. But this is not a self-centered journey. My work simultaneously visualizes the diverse ways that human beings reveal themselves through specific cultural icons and the feelings that underlie such expression. That is to say, my art has been both autobiographical and ethnographic.
